OpenBuildings Station Designer provides preset values for MS_VISEDGE_DEFAULTS and BB_UNIFICATION_ON_DURING, which provides the best output fidelity and most consistent results for most building designs.

  • MS_VISEDGE_DEFAULTS =
  • Method=Exact,CalculateIntersections=True,PlotMethod=Exact,RemoveSmoothEdges=True,Accuracy=ToTolerance,Tolerance=0.1 Millimeters,OcclusionTolerance=0.001 Millimeters,ProcessTextAndDimensions=True
  • BB_UNIFICATION_ON_DURING_CVE = 1

The Exact method is recommended for all visible edge processing. This setting controls whether curved geometry is represented precisely or approximated with strokes or facets. The Exact method is only marginally slower, but produces superior results.

Accuracy and Tolerance settings are not critical when the Exact method is used. The Accuracy setting is simply a method for controlling the tolerance as a fraction of the overall model (or reference attachment) size. To produce most consistent results, it is recommended that Accuracy be set to ToTolerance and Tolerance be specified explicitly. A value of .01 Millimeter produces acceptable results in all models.

It is also recommended you consider setting MS_REF_NO_CVE_LOAD equal to 1. This can be applied at the project level, where large numbers of references are used to improve open times for files containing Cached Visible Edge views.
